Do Unbelievers Ask About Your Hope? (A Guest Post)

Today I had the privilege of sharing my thoughts in a guest post on my friend, Erica’s, blog. I met Erica Floret* through the Young Writer’s Workshop Community, and she asked me if I would write a post for her blog, Undying Joy.

Do Unbelievers Ask About Your Hope?

Has anyone ever asked you why you’re different? Why you stand out? Why your life tells a story so unlike the rest of the world?

As Christians, we’re called by Scripture to always [be] prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you… (I Pt. 3:15)

But it can seem pointless to prepare for witnessing when people rarely ask where our hope comes from. Have you ever wondered why this is?

Why isn’t the curiosity of unbelievers stirred by the drastically countercultural way that we’re living for Jesus Christ? Why don’t they ask about this hope that empowers and infuses us? As sinners whose lives have been transferred from darkness to light, from the power of Satan to God (Acts 26:18) by the Gospel of Christ, we should be living like this is the greatest news ever. Because it is.
