3 Things I Love About My Mom

To anyone who has ever been a mom—biologically, adoptively, or spiritually—happy Mother’s Day.

God has blessed me with a wonderful mama. Though my list of thanksgivings for her could stretch far, today I’ll choose 3 things I love about Mom.

  1. She really, truly cares. Mom has the gift of compassion. When someone is hurt, she genuinely mourns for them, and when someone rejoices, Mom does too. (Rom. 12:15)
  2. She’s not a perfectionist, she’s a planner. The tilted frame on the wall doesn’t faze Mom and the smudges on the window don’t drive her crazy. She’s not perfectionistic. Yet she manages our home with the most meticulous planning and organization.
  3. She loves to be supportive. Mom has an incredible ability to slip into the background of Dad’s work as a pastor and our passions as her kids. She’s a cheerleader who doesn’t stay on the sidelines but jumps in to help us face our competitions against doubt, failure, and sin.

The list could go on. Mom truly emanates the Proverbs 31 woman in Scripture where it says:

She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her (Prov. 31:26-28).

I love you, Mom!
