The Best Spoiler Ever

SAS1

March 17

Reading through the Israelites’ battles has been like reading a novel and knowing how it ends. I’m travelling through Numbers and realizing how often God spoils the outcome for his people.

And Og the king of Bashan came out against them, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei. But the LORD said to Moses, “Do not fear him, for I have given him into your hand, and all his people, and his land. And you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites…So they defeated him…” (Num. 21:33-34)

What would it be like to charge into battle assured you would win? It sounds fantastical, but truthfully, it’s the Christian life.

We know the world is a fierce field of war (Eph. 6:12). We know Satan is burning with rage against Christ’s people (Eph. 6:16). We know his ways are subtly toxic (1 Pt. 5:8). Yet we know how it all will end.

“The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever” (Rev. 11:15).

This is the best spoiler ever.

Victory is ours, friends,

Bethany J.

  1. Yes! This has been a truth that I’ve been reminded of over and over again lately. What you said reminded me of a quote from Corrie ten Boom: “The devil is more powerful than we are, but Jesus is more powerful than the devil. Now if we belong to Jesus, we are on the victorious side.”
